dc.description.abstract In this novel, three narratives, woven together, tell the story of hunger. They follow a Kenyan orphan through her attempts to survive on the streets of Nairobi, an anorexic high school graduate through her last summer in the Chicago suburbs, and Joan of Arc from her ecstasies of revelation and victory to the terrifying doubts raised during her trial.
