dc.description.abstract In this paper, Warfield outlines some of the basic concepts of Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). Using matrices, figures, and flow-charts, Warfield explains how the symbolic language that accompanies ISM works. He then traces the history of ISM to its "mathematical ancestors." There are three attached appendices: "Some Applications of Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM)," "Bibliography on Applications of Structural Modeling (ISM)," November 25, 1978, and "Bibliography on Theory of Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM)," November 25, 1978. John N. Warfield Collection 27.40.
