In "To His Excellency the Lord Cartret," above, she refers to this poem as "the early theme of my aspireing muse." Charles XII was a hero to Jacobites.

1699-1700 (Charles XII born 1862, he first became king in 1697, his swift military maneuvres and victories began in 1699 and succeeded first in 1700.
