Abstract
This worksheet encourages students to experiment with generative AI ethically to create a research question and ten search terms for exploratory research purposes.
Description
On this worksheet, students prompt an AI platform for questions about a potential research topic, then respond and refine a relevant research question with their responses. Key terms for research on a library database or search engine are also generated. Students do not rely entirely on AI to complete this assignment but engage in “conversation” with a generative AI program to narrow their research focus. Although this worksheet was designed for English 302 (Advanced Composition), it has potential in any course requiring exploratory research.
