Abstract

Through research and personal writing, this collection of essays looks into the culturally-exposed gaps between bodily expectation and reality, to examine what it means to be called a “giant” in modern America, with pro wrestling—and specifically its “larger-than-life” figures, including André “The Giant” Roussimoff, the Big Show (Paul Wight), and Kongo Kong (Steve Wilson)—acting as a sort of extreme-version lens into how people of size are and have been perceived.
