Abstract
This novel follows Colleen Parsons, an aimless young woman who can no longer tolerate her stressful home life. To escape, she accepts an assistant teaching position at The Shepherd School, an all-girls Catholic boarding school in Northern Virginia, and she moves into campus housing. Over time, Colleen retreats into the school’s insular world and finds that the longer she stays, the scarier the outside world becomes.
