Abstract
This photograph portrays a man (perhaps a longshoreman) on a pier at Port of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana, ca. 1893. Subject is seated on a sawhorse, reading a newspaper. Behind him are stacked bales of cotton. Loose cotton can be seen on deck of pier. A series of buildings can be seen in the background.

Photograph print (albumen type). Size - 3.9 in. x 3.9 in. (9.906 cm x 9.906 cm). Overall image faded to yellowish brown with some marks in lower right and center left of the photo.
