dc.description.abstract | Letter to Rhoda Barnes from her husband Milton Barnes. Milton describes a fierce battle with confederate general John Bell hood at Franklin Tennesee, which causes his troops to retreat to a safer location. He states that the note is short as he is exhausted and needs rest after the ordeal. He tells Rhoda that he will send her a list of Guernsey County (Ohio) soldiers who were killed in the action. | |
