dc.description.abstract | This thesis presents a qualitative analysis of the constraints that veterans face when participating in recreation at outdoors. Often there are interpersonal, intrapersonal, and structural constraints that prevent people from participating. The kinds of constraints differ for distinctive groups based on individual needs, experiences, and challenges. Veterans, due to the unique lifestyle they experienced during their enlistment, have specific constraints that are relevant to them. There is a focus on utilizing the Theory of Planned Behavior to explain this phenomenon. The purpose of this research is to explore which unique constraints exist with veterans before and after their transition to civilian life, and analyze how that may impact their intention to participate in outdoor recreation. | |
