This thesis is a fictional novel about a week in the life of Alex Burkhart, who wakes up one morning in the middle of the Vermont wilderness, unsure of how she got there. Before she knows it, her summer after freshman year of high school starts to spiral out of control, and she becomes increasingly confused as to what, exactly, is happening to her. Over the course of her week, Alex begins to live the days of the week out of order—a disease that will challenge her sense of self and forever change her relationships with her family and friends. Throughout the novel, Alex has to overcome her struggles without ever knowing what they are, and how they will act as a spark for momentous change.
