Abstract
Incompressible viscous ows are widely studied in uid dynamics as many ows commonly encountered in industry and nature fall under this category. The present study is focused on two topics: - The implementation of an approximate Riemann solver for the so-called arti cial compressibility method for solving the Navier-Stokes equation with temperature and viscous terms on a structured Cartesian grid; and - The implementation of explicit register allocation in order to see if by these means improvements in cache memory access and the expected speed improvements can be realized.
