dc.description.abstract | This document describes the choreographic inspiration and process for the creation of Sleepwalking, a dance commissioned by the Kennedy Center’s Local Dance Commissioning Project, performed September 4 and 5, 2008, by Karen Reedy Dance. Sleepwalking evolved into a thirty-minute work structured with the theme of one full night’s sleep, beginning with bedtime and concluding with the sunrise of morning. The traditional theater space configuration was altered in order for the dancers to move through the audience space, providing an intimate atmosphere between the performers and the audience. | |
