Abstract

Letter from Virginia District Judge, John C. Underwood to Colonel Devereaux shich states: "Dear Sir, The bearer Mr. Haight desires to go to Fairfax C (ourt) . H(ouse). Vienna to look up testimony in the confiscation cases soon to be tried in this court. Any facilities in travel that you can give him will aid the government in its efforts to punish rebels and replenish the treasury. Yours truly, John C. Underwood, District Judge.
