Abstract
From attached description: "When the members of Congress return to Washington, they will find a new innovation in the floor covering of the House chamber. Hitherto it has been carpeted, but the wear and tear of legislative feet, not to mention cigar and cigarette butts, proved so wearing that a delicate blue and buff rubber covering has been substituted, at a saving of several thousand dollars each session. Photo shows workmen placing the new covering on the chamber floor"
