This thesis is a memoir about family, birds and the act of birdwatching, motherhood and the ever changing struggles of anxiety. It outlines the story of teenagers having the narrator and the impacts that birth has on the narrator throughout life. This is a story that explores how the narrator deals with the anxiety of perfection, when she feels her parents gave up everything for her and how she finds solace in the unlikely of places. Amongst the birds, exploring the species around her, the narrator comes to wonder what motherhood means and the loss of identity that could potentially come with it.
