This thesis is made up of several connected projects, all motivated by a similar set of formal and conceptual concerns. Broadly stated, these concerns involve an investigation of language and the lyric voice subjected to manipulation, translation, and constraint; the poems that result from these investigations ply their trade in the statically charged space between sense and nonsense, signal and noise, this world and the world beyond.
