Photographs dated 1893 taken by an unknown photographer. Train station scenes appear in a number of the photographs, suggesting that they were taken while he/she was on a train trip. Images illustrate a number of American cities from New Orleans, Louisiana to locations in Colorado and where originally part of a photograph scrapbook. This collection was acquired by the Special Collections Research Center in 2003.

The original caption for this photograph noted that the train was stopped two miles above sea level, possibly in the Colorado Mountains. The formation consists of a group of large rock spires. Many of the men and women are well dressed and could be middle to upper class tourists. A group of women stand in the foreground with several men behind them.Item Train Employees in front of Large Building, United States(2011-12-13)In this photograph three African-American railroad employees stand in front of a large building, presumably the train station. Behind the men the train tracks are covered in snow, and a train has stopped on the furthest track from the camera.Item Desert/Mountain Scene 1, Southwest United States(2011-12-13)This photograph depicts various rock formations in a high desert.
