dc.description.abstractThe International New Towns Association Conference paper, Community Planning and Development Challenges: Water, Energy, Environment and New Growth Outside the Narrow Nile Valley in Egypt; prepared by the Ministry of Development and State of Housing and Land Reclamation, Cairo, Egypt, October 1980. This paper examines the problems in cities and rural areas, especially housing, utilities (especially water), transportation, and other services. Provided are outlines of various government programs designed to combat these problems; case studies of specific cities like Suez, El Obour, and Port Said; examines water sources and usage; energy resources and requirements; and city planning.
