Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are important human pathogens. Recent advances in genome sequencing and sequence analysis have made it possible to study the evolution of these viruses in new and interesting ways. These technologies have been used to study recombinant and non-recombinant HAdVs. Data from studies of these genomes have also revealed possibilities for improving the current methods for classifying HAdVs.
